This first layout is an as built just after I had finished planting all of my trees.
This is after this years plantings. It really isn’t totally accurate or scaled very well seeing as how the chicken run now takes up the whole length of the south end of the area and the Grenada & Kasmir Pomegranates are inside that run. It is accurate as to varieties and locations. The pink dotted Splash, Flavor Supreme, and Flavor Grenade are Pluots an interspecific cross of plum and apricot. Purple dotted Emerald Beauty, Santa Rosa, Burgundy, and Beauty are plums; Orange dotted Early Treat, Florida Prince, O’Henry, and Babcock are peaches along with my lone Arctic Star nectarine. Gold Kist,Royal Rosa, Katy, and Tomkot are apricots with Cot-n-Candy & Flavor Delight being Apriums another interspecific cross of apricot and plum the leans more towards the apricot.
Well it looks good on paper/computer. Hope the trees bear good fruit for you in the years to come
Hi,
The orchard layout diagram looks good! I noticed you put in a Beauty Plum. That is one of my favorite plums, very sweet with not too much tartness to the skin, and I like how it produces much earlier than some of the other stone fruits.
I like how you colored coated the diagram. My favorite “you pick cherry” farm does something kind of similar. They have a big board with a color key, it looks like your layout, at the front of their orchard. Then they painted a stripe on each tree to match the name with color. It makes it easy to find a favorite variety without sampling (but I still sample, shhh!.)
Best wishes for your 2013 harvests.
